Fennwell
The mineral pool under a tall arched window, morning light on the water

Clinic & bathhouse · Ojai Valley

Fennwell

Slow care, close to the water.
Seven treatment rooms, three pools and a garden.

Scroll slowly

Come in. Leave the hour at the door.

The idea

A small clinic and bathhouse at the edge of an orchard, built around one rule: nothing is rushed, and nothing is sold to you on the way out.

Treatments

Ten things we do, done slowly.

Not sure where to start? Answer four questions and we will suggest a few. Open any treatment to see what happens in the room.

Slow massageHands-on75 min

A full-body massage at an unhurried pace, planned with you in the first five minutes.

What to expect
A short conversation, then seventy minutes on a heated table under linen. The pressure is yours to choose and to change halfway.
Good to know
Arrive fifteen minutes early and the warm pool is yours first.
Stone & heatHands-on90 min

Warm basalt stones and long strokes, mostly through the back and shoulders.

What to expect
Stones warmed in water, used both resting along the spine and moving. Ask for more heat, less, or none at all.
Good to know
The room smells faintly of cedar for the rest of the day. So might you.
The long afternoonWater & heat3½ hours

The mineral circuit, then a slow massage, then tea in the garden.

What to expect
Two hours between the pools, the sauna and the rest room at your own pace, a seventy-five-minute massage, and a pot of tea after. A daybed is held for you throughout.
Good to know
Bring nothing. Robes, towels and slippers are here.
Linen facialSkin60 min

Warm cloths, a gentle cleanse and a long face, neck and scalp massage.

What to expect
Steamed linen, a cleanse, a clay mask while your hands are massaged, then a light moisturiser. No extractions, no lights, no machines.
Good to know
Tell us anything your skin dislikes and we work around it.
Clay & salt ritualSkin90 min

A salt scrub from shoulders to feet, a warm clay wrap, and a rest while it sets.

What to expect
A fine salt-and-oil scrub, a warm shower in the room, then twenty minutes wrapped in clay and blankets with a scalp massage while you wait.
Good to know
The rest room is yours afterwards for as long as you like.
Skin conversationSkin30 min

Half an hour with a skin therapist about your routine. Nothing is sold.

What to expect
We look at your skin in daylight, talk through what you use now, and write down a simple routine you can actually keep.
Good to know
Come without make-up if you can. Anything medical, we will point you to your doctor.
Mineral circuitWater & heat2 hours

Three pools, a cedar sauna, a cold plunge and the rest room, in any order.

What to expect
A warm mineral pool, a cool one, the sauna and the plunge, with a host who shows you round once and then leaves you be.
Good to know
Phones stay in the lockers. The clock on the wall is the only one.
Cold & quietWater & heat45 min

Guided rounds of sauna and cold plunge, with rests in between.

What to expect
Three rounds of heat and a short plunge, led by a host who keeps time so you don't have to think about it.
Good to know
The plunge is as long or as short as you like. A hand in the water counts.
Breath roomStillness45 min

A guided breathing session in a dim room, lying down or seated.

What to expect
Slow, paced breathing led by voice, starting gently and ending in ten minutes of silence. Like the circle above, only with a person.
Good to know
Eat lightly beforehand. You can stop and simply rest whenever you like.
Sound restStillness50 min

Lying under blankets while bowls, gongs and a low drone fill the room.

What to expect
A daybed in the half-dark while a practitioner plays. Most people drift off. That is rather the idea.
Good to know
Held at dusk, for six people at most.
Clear water rippling over pale river stones

Stone, linen, water, cedar.

Every surface you touch is one of four materials. Nothing hums, nothing beeps.

The space

The people

Four people, and their hands.

An imagined team for this concept. We show the work rather than the faces.

Hands warming massage oil over a folded linen towel

Ines Calder

Massage & bodywork

Plans every massage around the first five minutes of conversation, not a menu.

A jade stone, basalt massage stones and a dish of white clay on limestone

Ana Ruiz-Bell

Skin

Starts a facial with a question about your week and ends it with nothing to buy.

Ceramic bowls, one holding warm water with chamomile flowers

Theo Marsh

The bathhouse

Keeps the pools, the sauna and the plunge, and the pace between them.

Sage, rosemary and chamomile drying on linen beside a stone mortar

Jun Okada

Breath & sound

Leads the breath room in the morning and the sound rest at dusk.
